This item was not "real wood" but was mostly cheap composite wood with a plasticy veneer. The turntable was plastic. It was so cheap for the money, and not what was represented. I wanted a nice piece of furniture for my husband's magazines in our living room. The only good thing about it is that it is "made in America"...maybe that's a bad thing considering the quality!
